Words of Woofdom – Separation Anxiety Support For Pet Parents
Having a pup that has behavioral issues is not only difficult for the dog, but can also be very difficult for the humans involved; especially with dogs that have separation anxiety. Pet Parents may be hesitant to have people over or be able to go out of the home, depending on the behavioral concern. The isolation and stress can be very hard for the pet parents. As you may know, one of Canine Companion Consulting’s specialties is Separation Anxiety. Separation Anxiety is a very common behavioral concern in dogs. In fact, 17% of all dogs have some degree of separation anxiety. That’s almost one out of every five dogs!
The good news is that it is treatable. However, the process is typically slow and requires a lot of work. Having worked through separation anxiety with my own pup, I have often said I would like to have a support group for the pet parents for these special needs dogs. As such, we just started a Facebook group for pet parents who have dogs with separation anxiety. This is a safe place for pet parents to support one another and exchange ideas. Please feel free to join the group or let others know of this new resource. https://www.facebook.com/groups/SeparationAnxietyDogs/
In-home training allows the Canine Behavior Consultants to observe your dog in their natural environment and cater to your specific needs. Training comes easier to a dog that does not have distractions and is in the comfort of their own home. Let us come to you to help you have a better relationship with your Canine Companion.
